Enabling Business Transformation and Innovation

Innovation

Our innovations are so effective because they are part of our processes, we identify a need and apply business and technology models to make it work. aQovia doesn't necessarily rely on the invention of new technology, but instead focuses on it's application and it's role when developing a new strategy or designing an organisation's processes.

Digital TestBed

In 2010 aQovia entered into partnership with the U.K. Technology Strategy Board (TSB) to develop a UK national hotspot network, showcasing the shared revenue potential of an open network with service exposure through an Application Programme Interface (API). The demonstrator seeks to foster.

  • Digital Application and Service commerce, enabling application developers, service providers and partners to create, publish and consume applications within an agreed commercial framework.
  • Flexible pricing models ranging from transactional based, Pay as you Go, fixed or monthly subscription
  • Live invocation tracking of applications and facilitate live settlement and clearing of payments and royalties.

The open network and API exposure approach will extend the reach of services via universal media (i.e Wi-Fi, 3G, Ethernet) to a cross-spectrum of channels (e.g consumers, enterprise, public, sector).

What the network will accomplish

  • The network demonstrator will provide standardised, open interfaces for independent Software Vendors and developers (ISV&D) to access network services and features, with microbilling or revenue share on a utility/consumption model.
  • The aQovia EcoSystem is integrated with the overall solution, to ensure multi-channel, full service life-cycle management functions (e.g Support Billing). In doing so the demonstrators network shall achieve a fully 'two sided' telco 2.0 model.
  • The revenue share model is based on delivering secure, reliable and compelling applications to customers. The demonstrator will use the aQovia wi-fi network developed in co-operation with Swindon Borough Council, operating under the signal brand, creating an integrated multi-service access network, with back-end systems built on aQovia's Services ecoSystem platform.
